Maybe no one told you this but doing surveys on the net adds to the fact that you're research is purely subjective and biased. Hopefully this isn't anything serious, otherwise you would be spewing sophisms.

Yes; all of my characters (including temporary pvp chars) are female.

Male characters in this game are hideous. The fact that female characters are attractive doesn't hurt.

Even more so in PvP than on the rest of the internet, it's assumed that everyone is male, so pretty much every female character on obs mode is played by a male.

Who cares? Everyone does it.

Assuming that there are no in-game differences between the genders, I'd do so provided the female characters are better-looking.

1. Male
2. Yes
3.My characters gender depends on the armor of that class

monk: male since the dwarfen pants but female in pvp since they don't have those pants there
warrior: I never play a war
ele: female
mesmer: male
necro: male, metal!!!!
ranger: female
rit: female
assassin: male/female
paragon: female
dervish male, robes ftw

4. I think most female charrs are from male players and this thread confirms my suspicion
5. not realy
6. never ever

Male player but charcters are mostly female except for my monk, warrior, and necro. All others are fems. I didn't like the look of male mesmer, ranger, ele and dervs.

1.what is your gender?
Homo Sapien
2.Have you ever played a character of the opposite sex?
Yes
3.why or why not?
I have too many characters to keep them all of one gender
4.Do you often suspect anyone else of playing a gender not their own?
M.M.O.R.P.G. = Mostly Men Online Role Playing Girls
5.Do you treat players differently based on their avatar’s gender?
I usually don't even notice what it is.
6.Have you taken advantage of your characters gender?
No & seems like a waste of time to try
7.If you know someone is playing a character of a gender not their own, do you treat them differently?
If someone tells me they are a girl I will treat them a little more respectfully, as I do in RL.
8.Would you be more likely to play a character of the other sex in another game? If so, which one(s)? Why?
I go with whatever looks coolest to me for the specific race/class/profession.

1. Male.
2. Yes, but it was just a PvP character and got deleted in 20 minutes. Other than that, no.
3. Keep the retarded Wammos off of me.
4. I always assume someone is male until told otherwise.
5. Not at all.
6. How could I? No.
7. No.
8. No, I would not.

7.

Speaking generally.
Don't see the problem with being a guy with a female character flirting with a male or female character played by either sex.

Its called role playing

That said I just play the game and don't really chat anyone up, especially as I have no way of knowing the age of the other player.

I could well imaging the press getting the story of some older guy pretending to be a girl in an online game chatting up youngsters.

Better keep flirting to people you meet in real life.
